~ Santa Clara County ~ Stanford There are over 100 Eichler homes located in the beautiful environs of the Stanford University property. Virtually all of the homes are considerably larger than the homes found in the “normal” communities of Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, etc. They are recognizable Eichlers with more square footage devoted to the home, in particular the living or “gathering” spaces. They are usually set on the larger lots and rather secluded by the mature landscaping. Frank Lloyd Wright fans and devotees will probably recognize the famous “Hana House” of the world renown architect, located on Frenchmans Road. However, Stanford Eichlers are only available to faculty and staff, and each property is still on leased land of Stanford University. Palo Alto Palo Alto is often spoken of as the original home of Eichler Homes so many years ago. It is true that more Eichlers were built in Palo Alto than in any other community and that two headquarter offices were located in Palo Alto. Almost 3000 Eichler homes were built in this city and on the neighboring Stanford University grounds. Palo Alto is home to some of the most well-known enclaves including Greenmeadow, Fairmeadow, Green Gables and Los Arboles but you will find less well known and defined enclaves throughout much of this famous northern California community. All of the Eichler architects, i.e., Anshen+Allen, Jones & Emmons, and Claude Oakland & Associates designed homes for Eichler organizations […]

Back in the saddle to a bit of activity during the holiday. As mentioned early this month, the market activity on my Eichler Market Data page got down into the 60's – 66 to be exact – and will probably stay around that area for a month or so. Typical. As mentioned last week, I'm happy to announce that I have formed a new relationship with a very active and capable team of realtors, so that Eichler enthusiasts and home sellers can continue to benefit from the activities and history of Eichler Homes Realty – now infused with new energy and talent. 4 BD, 2 BA, 2039 sqft living space, 8712 sqft lot. List Price $988k , Sale Price $938k. What a fantastic deal for the new buyer. This was a very original Eichler in fairly good condition so if you had questions about getting into a nice Eichler at a reasonable price, here is your answer. (photos are download from MLS)
104 Ferne Ave — $664,000. Listed 11/10/2008 (Carmen M Salazar of Intero Real Estate Services represents the Seller) – 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms– 1038sf living space on a 1224sf lot– Condo with courtyard entry, fire place, skylights, 2 patios and pool. Mark's Preview Notes: The fact that this Eichler Townhome backs up to Alma might scare most people but this home has mature bamboo plants helping to block that noise. This unit has original bathroom vanities and the kitchen may have been updated some time ago but the natural wood ceiling has been nicely preserved. For someone with a modern vision and if you can get this at the right price, this home could be a great project of which you could be proud.
50 Roosevelt Circle — $1,050,000. Listed 10/21/08 (Carol Lin of Alain Pinel Realtors represent the Seller) Cancelled - 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms – 1198sf living space a 6372sf lot – Sunny and bright 3BR/2BA contemporary charmer; the bathrooms have been updated; patios on both sides; fenced backyard with mature trees Mark's Preview Notes: This is a nice and bright home based on the configuration and orientation. The downside with this model is that it does not have a "true" master bedroom suite because both bathrooms are considered hall bathrooms.
371 Carolina Lane — $1,350,000. Mark's Preview Notes: This is an immaculate remodel with a lot of great features and updates that use many nice textures and components. There is very little to be disappointed with here. ps. You can rent this place for $4500 a month (MLS#80913946)
804 Piper Drive — $1,198,000. Mark's Preview Notes: This is a very nice example of a gallery model Eichler, one where the fireplace is located in the center of the home and acts as a room divider. This home feels very spacious and has another unique feature of an “indoor atrium”.
